Rosie Jane Zimmerman DeHart, 84, Russell Springs, KY


Rosie Jane Zimmerman DeHart, 84, of Russell Springs, KY passed from this life on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the home of her daughter in Richmond, KY. She was born November 8, 1939 in Russell County, a daughter of the late Otha Green and Synthia Elizabeth Fox Zimmerman. 

Ms. Jane was the widow of the late Hollis DeHart, a beloved mother and grandmother, retired teacher and counselor. She was a graduate of Campbellsville University and the University of Kentucky, where she earned her Rank 1 status. Ms. Jane taught special education and served as a guidance counselor in the Russell County School System for over 35 years. She grew up in and was baptized into the fellowship at Square Oak Separate Baptist Church, and later moved her membership to Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church.

 

SURVIVORS:

1 son: Matt (Lana) DeHart of Russell Springs

1 daughter: Lesa (Kim) Billings of Richmond

3 grandchildren: Taylor (Julia) Billings of Shepherdsville, Evan DeHart and Nathan DeHart of Russell Springs

 

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by four brothers: Hubert Zimmerman, Ruzie Zimmerman, Junior Zimmerman, and Willard Zimmerman; four sisters: Maxine Stephens, Margaret Green, Kathleen Stephens, and Mary Johnson; and her grandson, Ethan “Cody” Billings.

 

Funeral Service: Friday, April 19, 2024 at 2:00pmCT at Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Conner and Bro. Dustin McGowan officiating

 

Interment: Bethlehem Cemetery
 

Visitation: After 11:00amCT on Friday

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503.
