VERLIN DEE MONDAY

Verlin Dee Monday, 79, of Anderson, IN went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2020 at 2:22 p.m. at his residence surrounded by his family.
 
He was born on August 2, 1940, in Casey County, Kentucky, the son of Claude and Emily (Derringer) Monday.  Dee had lived there until he moved to Anderson, IN in 1966 .
 
He retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in 1999, having worked in production.
 
Dee was a faithful member of the New Hope Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church for 54 years.
 
He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he had served for 8 years.
 
Dee is survived by his wife, Mildred (Murphy) Monday, whom he married on March 4, 1966; daughters, Tammy (James) Coppage, of Greensburg, KY and Peggy Monday of Anderson; grandsons, Casey (Joy) Coppage and Aaron (Emma) Coppage, both of Liberty, KY; great-granddaughters, Lily, Mia, and Norah Coppage, all of Liberty, KY; brother, Herlin (Veldean) Monday, of Liberty, KY; brother-in-law who he thought of as a brother, Walter Murphy, Liberty, KY; brother-in-law, Ray Hatton, Berea, KY; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thelbert, Glen, Clevie, Jesse, and Hack; sisters, Beatrice Hatton, Edyth Monday, and Irene Taylor.
 
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, IN 46013, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, 42539 on Thursday, August 6, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Please enter through the front doors (Campbellsville Street side) of the funeral home when you arrive for visitation. HELEN FAY BOTTOMS

Helen Fay Bottoms, of Knifley, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020, at Liberty Care and Rehab. She was 81.

 

Born on June 19, 1939, in Neatsville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Lindsey Holmes and Thelma Neat Bryant. Fay was a seamstress. She was a great cook, a loving person, and loved the color red.

 

Fay is survived by her husband, Buel Madison Bottoms of Knifley; three sons, Terry Madison Bottoms of Hope, Indiana; Johnny Ray (Paula) Bottoms of Bargersville, Indiana, and Richard Allen Bottoms of Knifley; a daughter, Debbie Fay (Larry) McCartey of Elizabethtown, Indiana; seventeen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Rachel Burton of Adair County.

 

She is preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Wright and Ruby Rice.

 

The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. EST on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. WILLIAM "BILLY RAY" WETHINGTON

William “Billy Ray” Wethington, of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.  He was 75.

 

Born January 1, 1945, in St. Bernard, Ohio, he was a son of the late William A. “Bill Mark” and Gracie Christine Wethington. Billy Ray was a former employee of Wolford and Wethington Lumber Company and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

 

Survivors include four brothers, Terry (and Carol) Wethington, Joey (and Belinda) Wethington, Robin (and Syrilla) Wethington, and Kevin (and Anna Jean) Wethington all of Liberty; three sisters, Arlene (and Stan) Cohen of Seattle, Washington, Julita Patten of Liberty, and Sandy Wolford of Liberty; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Whitt of Franklin, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, Billy Ray was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Wethington and Larry Wethington; and two sisters, Barbara Whitt and Brenda Wethington.

 

A funeral mass will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 31, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father George Otuma officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. Facial coverings must be worn by everyone in attendance.

 

Billy Ray’s brothers and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

LOIS H. WILSON

 

Lois H. Wilson, of Oaklandon, Indiana, passed peacefully at her home on July 20, 2020.  She was 90 years of age.  Born in Liberty, Ky, on April 22, 1930, she was the daughter of Hollis and Eula Hardin.

 

Survivors include 2 sons, Ivan (Sheila) Wilson Jr. and David (Christina) Wilson, both of Oaklandon, Indiana; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. 

 

Proceeding in her death was her husband, Ivan L Wilson Sr; and 2 daughters, Jean Elizabeth Hensley and Laura Ellen Carter.

 

Private graveside services will be held Saturday in the Wilson Cemetery on Wilson Ridge Rd, Liberty.

MARY HELEN MAUPIN PUTTEET

Mary Helen Maupin Putteet, of Liberty, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday morning, July 24, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 94 years of age.

 

Born on May 4, 1926, in Casey County, Kentucky, Helen was a daughter of the Late Ray and Alta Anderson Maupin. She was a homemaker and a member of Trace Fork Separate Baptist Church. Helen was a faithful Christian lady. She loved being a minister’s wife and traveling with her late husband, Coy, as he spread the gospel.

 

Helen is survived by two daughters, Patty Cook and Connie Putteet, both of Liberty; two brothers, Johnny (and Joyce) Maupin and Bobby (and Marcella) Maupin, both of Liberty; three grandchildren, Tanya Long, Samantha Putteet, and Emily Putteet; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Brother Coy A. Putteet, who passed away on January 3, 2000; two sons, Danny Putteet and Jackie Putteet; one daughter, Regina Marcum; one brother, Jim Maupin; three sisters, Betty Meeks, Gay Arney, and Hazel Jeanette Morgan; and a granddaughter, Tina Hogue.

 

Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. Monday, July 27, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with her brother, Brother Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Springs Cemetery.

JAMES MICHAEL 'MIKEY' CARMAN

 

James Michael “Mikey” Carman, age 27, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, formerly of the Walltown community of Casey County, Kentucky, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 in Campbellsville. 

 

Born Saturday, April 24, 1993 in Stanford, Kentucky, he was the son of James Darren “Tabby” Carman of Walltown and Beverly Bowen Carman of Eubank, Kentucky.  Mikey was a member of Walltown Christian Church and was a 2011 Graduate of Casey County High School.

 

In addition to his parents, Mikey leaves behind two brothers, Jason King of Moreland, Kentucky and Daniel King of Danville, Kentucky; paternal grandmother, Juanita Hatter Carman of Walltown; maternal grandmother, Virginia Leach of Kings Mountain, Kentucky; and several other extended family members whom mourn his passing.

 

Mikey was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, L.T. Carman; and maternal grandfather, Elmer Lee Bowen.

 

A Private Funeral Service will be held Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. Lynville Hatter officiating the service.

 

Burial will follow in Dunham Cemetery. Jason King, Daniel King, Zachary Carman, Nathaniel Carman, Brandon Carman and James Bowen will serve as Active Pallbearers.

SYLVIA McLAUGHLIN PRUITT

 

Sylvia Irene McLaughlin Pruitt, of Yosemite, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was 75.

 

Born on July 29, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Herman McLaughlin and Margaret Bradshaw Hatter. Sylvia was a caretaker. She loved animals and being outdoors.

 

Sylvia is survived by a daughter, Loria Ann Pruitt of Yosemite; a son, John Carlos (Melissa) Pruitt of Yosemite; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers, Sherman (Louise) Hatter of Yosemite and David Wayne (Suzy) McLaughlin of Martinsville, Indiana; and a lifelong friend, Molly Brown of Campbellsville.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Gail Pruitt; a son, Scott Wayne Pruitt; and two brothers, Garrett Hatter and Donald Hatter.

 

There will be no services at this time.

ALTA JEAN HUNT

 

Alta Jean Hunt, age 76, of Columbia, KY passed away on Sunday July 19th, 2020 at her residence.

 

She was born in Clementsville, KY on February 27th, 1944, a daughter of the late Lucian R. Wethington and Grethan Elizabeth Clements Wethington.

 

Alta Jean was the widow of John Hunt.

 

Alta Jean was a retired employee from Union Underwear and a former C.N.A.

 

Survivors include: One Daughter: Treva and (J.D.) Thomas of Dunnville, KY, One Son: Jeff and (Pam) Woodrum of Knifley, KY, Three Grandchildren: Steven Thomas, Katelynn Woodrum and Emilee Woodrum, Three Great Grandchildren: Landon Holmes, Hailey Thomas and Kinsley Thomas and One Brother: Robert Dallon Wethington of Columbia, KY.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was Two Brothers: James Lannie Wethington and Raymond Thomas Wethington and Three Sisters: Sharon Lee Herron, Mary Connie Wethington and Phyllis Kay Wethington.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 23rd, 2020 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

FRANCES PAULINE HAYES TROOP

 

Frances Pauline Hayes Troop, of Liberty, died on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at Liberty Care and Rehab. She was 91.

 

Born on June 26, 1929, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Omer and Mary A. Hayes Buck. Frances was a mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to many. She loved working in her flowers, sewing, and helping people. She worked at Union Underwear, Marlene Industries, Liberty Five and Dime Store, and retired from Wesley Drug. Frances was a member of Noel’s Chapel First Church of God.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte (Donald) Smither; two grandchildren, Leah (Matthew) Atwood and Kimberly (Eddie) Warren; six great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters, Minnie L. Kidd and Polly Whited, both of Michigan.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, James W. Hayes, Clyde Buck, George Buck, Tommie Buck, Gene Buck, Mickey Buck, and Wayne Buck; and two sisters, Jane Summers and Hazel Franklin.

 

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Cameron Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Whited Cemetery.

Melissa Carol Price, age 50, of Liberty, KY passed away on Friday July 17th, 2020 at her residence.

 

She was born in Danville, KY on June 4th, 1970, a daughter of the late Ancil and Violet Louise Lawless Buis.

 

Melissa was a hairdresser and a former school bus driver.  

 

Survivors include: Her Spouse: Kendall Craig Price, One Daughter: Brittany and (Matthew) King of Goshen, KY, Two Grandchildren: Carson and Caroline King, Three Brothers: Tony and (Terry Jo) Buis, Timothy and (Tara) Buis and Terry Craig Buis all of Liberty, Three Sisters: Linda Buis of Liberty, Susan Weddle of Somerset, KY and Beverly Buis of Liberty, Several Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews and Close Friend: Mary Wethington.

TOMMY COOPER

Tommy Cooper, of Clementsville, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

 

Born on July 20, 1940, in Mayland, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Vincent and Tiva Jane Harris Cooper. Tommy was a sawmill worker. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, and being outdoors. Tommy loved spending time with his family. His last ride was given to his final destination by his grandson, Andrew Cooper.

 

He is survived by his wife, Paulita Wethington Cooper, who he wed on October 1, 1960; two daughters, Dorothy Cooper and Wanda (Jimmy) Wethington, both of Clementsville; six grandchildren, Amanda, Donald, Lisa, Andrew, Victoria, and Cassie; and eleven great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Audra, TJ, Kaleb, Preston, Kaden, Dominic, Kenslee, Brayden, Riley, and Carsen. Other survivors include six sisters, Susie Barnes of Crossville, TN, Joyce Fultz of Glennie, Michigan, Betty Stamps of Muddy Pond, TN, Anna Cooper of Clark Range, TN, Gail (Tony) Wethington of Clementsville, and Brenda (Murriel) Wethington of Clementsville; four brothers, Charles Cooper of Crossville, TN, Ray (Ethel) Cooper of Crossville, TN, Bill (Elsie) Cooper of Crothersville, IN, and Richard (Becky) Cooper of Crossville, TN; a special caregiver, Brooklyn; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, Tommy is preceded in death by a sister, Lou Ann Brown; and a brother, David Cooper.

 

The funeral mass will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Monday, July 20, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father George Otuma officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. Facial coverings must be worn by everyone in attendance.

KATHY "KAT" GOODE

Kathy “Kat” Ellen Goode, of Clementsville, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at UK Hospital in Lexington. She was 57.

 

Born July 20, 1962, in Campbellsville, KY, she was a daughter of the late James Covious “Cobe” Goode and Evelyn Edith Wethington Goode. Kathy was a 1980 Casey County High School Graduate and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Spanish from Spalding University in 1984. In 2014, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Library Information Science from Florida State University.

 

Kathy worked in television, newspaper, video productions, and radio for over 25 years – having worked at WHAS, WGRB, WRKA, the Courier-Journal, and Cox Communications. While working in New Orleans, she received a cable ACE award for the Louisiana Jukebox musical variety show. Kathy also owned and operated a video production business, Goode Media Services. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Director at the Casey County Public Library.

 

Kathy was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, where she formerly played the organ and taught children’s church. She was also an executive producer of the long running Clementsville Variety Show. 

 

Kathy was known for her infectious smile, sense of humor, and her never-ending optimism. She loved her family, her community, and helping others. She was an avid traveler and loved new experiences. 

 

Survivors include her adopted daughter, Alora Eve Clements; brothers, Jim (Brenda) Goode of Campbellsville and David (Jennifer) Goode of Russell Springs; sisters, Sue Goode, Betty Wethington, Eileen Summers, and Patty (John) Clements, all of Clementsville; godchildren, Darren Summers, Angela Clements, Jordan Goode, Miranda Summers, and Hailey Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive.

 

She was preceded in death by her adored nephew, Zach Summers and her brother-in-law, Ronnie Summers.

 

There will be no in-person viewing or visitation. Funeral Mass and eulogy will be held at 11:00 AM EST on her birthday, Monday, July 20, 2020 at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father George Otuma officiating. Burial will immediately follow Mass.  Due to recent health concerns, please wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

NINA CALHOUN

Nina Calhoun, of Dunnville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Liberty Care Center. She was 89 years of age.

 

Born December 1, 1930, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Newt and Mary Roberts. Nina was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Faith Temple Church. 

 

Survivors include one son, Anthony Calhoun of Dunnville; one grandson, Josh (and fiancé Taylor Cravens) of Dunnville; one brother, Charlie Meeks of Yosemite; and two sisters, Betty (and Mike) Breaden of New Albany, Indiana, and Laura (and Vern) Garmon of Geneseo, Illinois.

 

In addition to her parents, Nina was preceded in death by six brothers, Tom Roberts, Paul Roberts, Cash Roberts, Raymond Roberts, Stanley Roberts, and Jim Roberts; and one sister, Marcella Jones.

 

Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Brother Gene Sneed officiating. Burial will follow in Trace Fork Cemetery.

Cambree Ann Newton, infant daughter of Cody Newton and Michelle Coffman Burton of Liberty, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at University of Kentucky Medical Center.

 

She was three days young.

 

In addition to her parents, Cambree is also survived by one brother, Zayden Newton; maternal grandparents, Shawn and Sheila Coffman of Hustonville; paternal grandparents, Timmy and Jo Newton of Campbellsvile; maternal great-grandparents, Trish and Ronnie Johnson of Bradfordsville, Lorene Downs of Liberty, and Leon Hafley of Liberty; and paternal great-grandparents, Rena and Orville Newton of Campbellsville and Monica Wilson of Campbellsville. Other survivors include one aunt, Laura Coffman of Hustonville; and three uncles, Jamie Coffman of Hustonville, Nick (and Angie) Newton of Campbellsville, and Sean (and Nikki) Newton of Campbellsville.

 

Cambree was preceded in death by a brother, Dayton Newton.

 

Funeral services are 4:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2020, at Brush Creek Pentecostal Church with  Brother Scott Cochran officiating.

BARBARA 'BARBO' LANHAM

 

Barbara Faye “Barbo” Lanham, age 75, of Liberty, KY passed away on Saturday July 11th, 2020 at the Casey County Hospital. She was born in Liberty, KY on January 29th, 1945, a daughter of Haskel Arthur Murphy Sr. of Liberty and the late Ruby Evelyn Bryant Murphy.

 

Barbara was the widow of G.B. Lanham.

 

Barbara was a former clerk at the Liberty Five and Dime, Enstar Cable Co. and Farmers Deposit Bank.

Additional Survivors include: One Daughter: Tracy Gwen and (Mike) Fair of Liberty, Two Grandchildren: Mikayla Lyn Fair and Jayce Malachi Fair, and Two Brothers: Haskel Murphy Jr. of Liberty and Russell Gary Murphy of Liberty.

 

Preceding her in death besides her mother was One Sister: Shirley Ann Evans.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 15th, 2020 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday July 15th, 2020 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Greg Powell officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Lanhamtown Cemetery.

 

MAXINE ELIZABETH PRICE

Maxine Elizabeth Price, of Liberty, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020, at Liberty Care and Rehab. She was 94.

 

Born on October 22, 1925, in Teddy, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Rosalie C. Baldock Rodgers. Maxine was a graduate of University of Kentucky where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Education. She was a teacher for forty-seven yearsat Liberty High School, Middleburg High School, and Casey County High School. She was a lifetime member and played piano at West Side Christian Church. Maxine was an avid UK fan. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed traveling. She visited all fifty states throughout her life.

 

She is survived by her son, Dr. John Rogers “Jackie” (Terry) Price of Liberty; three  grandchildren, John Price of Liberty, Jason (Charity) Price of Wilmore, and Kelly (Marshall) Forbes of Liberty; and nine great-grandchildren, Hogan, Jax, Talley, Mia, Elizabeth, Luca, Mae, Elyn, and Jase. She is also survived by a sister, Mildred Neat of Louisville.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Louise Fox; and two brothers, Lowell Rodgers and Charles Rodgers.

 

The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Please enter through the front doors (Campbellsville Street side) of the funeral home when you arrive for visitation. Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance. Facial coverings ARE required.

 

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at McKinney- Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Shackelford officiating. Burial will follow in Casey County Memorial Gardens.

 

Pallbearers will be John Price, Jason Price, Marshall Forbes, Jax Price, Hogan Price, and Tommy Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Neat, Chris Neat, Walter Goggin, Danny Price, David Price, Johnny Wesley, Jeff Wesley, Mike Jones, George Ledford, and Luca Forbes.

VINA MANELL MARTIN

Vina Manell Martin, of Stanford, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Stanford Care and Rehab. She was 77.

 

Born on July 12, 1942, in Mercer County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Sherman and Nellie Mills Rigney. Vina enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Clearview Baptist Church.

 

Vina is survived by her daughter, Penelope Pennington of Stanford; a sister, Gladys Piercy of Stanford; and three grandchildren, Jordan, Christopher, and Christian.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Hughes and Esther Rayborn; and two brothers, William Rigney and Joseph Edward Rigney.

 

No services will be held at this time.

JAMES CALLINAN

 

James Thomas Callinan age 64, of Dunnville, KY passed away on Thursday July 9th, 2020 at the Russell County Hospital.

 

He was born in Chicago, IL on May 5th, 1956 a son of the late William Sheridan Callinan II and Mearl Jean Bailey Callinan.

 

James was a auto body repairman.

 

Survivors include: One Daughter: Rhonda Lynn Edwards of Dunnville, His Companion: Brenda York of Dunnville, Three Grandchildren: Wesley, Chelsea and Alex Edwards, Four Brothers: Bill and Tim Callinan both of Liberty, Mike Callinan of Independence, KY and John Callinan of Cincinnati, OH and Three Sisters: Kathy Wilkerson of Liberty, KY, Helen Couch of Sheridan, WY and Linda Wallace of Cincinnati, OH.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents was One Sister: Patty Callinan.

 

Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

PHILLIP BURTON

 

Phillip Burton, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Somerset, KY.

 

Born April 7, 1948, in Liberty, KY, he was a son of the late Elmer and Lucille Buck Burton. Phillip was a farmer and a logger and member of the Christ Tabernacle Church. He also hauled gates and worked construction. He enjoyed horse riding. Phillip dearly loved his family.

 

Survivors include his son, Lee (Carol) Burton of Liberty; daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Randall of Hanover, IN; step-sons, Adam (Kimberly) Brock of Georgia and Steven Brock of Liberty; brothers, James (Teresa) Burton of Liberty and Darrell (Anita) Burton of Liberty; sisters, Francis Allen of Edinburgh, IN, Reamona (Paul) Martin of Liberty, and Shirley Hayes of Liberty; four grandchildren, Nicole, Nathan, Aaron, and Bella; and two step-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Derek.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his fiancé, Louise Brock.

 

Funeral services will be held with limited capacity of 100 people at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Brother Will Palmer officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery on Dogwood Gap.

 

Visitation will be from 5-9PM Friday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Visitors will enter through the front door off Campbellsville Street and social distancing is encouraged.

BOBBY MEARKLE, 48, OF LIBERTY

Bobby Mearkle, of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Casey County Hospital. He was 48.

 

Born on June 4, 1972, in San Diego, California, he was the son of Robert Mearkle, Sr. and Norma Rosario Allen. Bobby was a sales manager. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was a ‘people person’ that loved life and was a great friend to many.

 

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Mearkle of Stoneville, North Carolina; his father, Robert (Connie) Mearkle, Sr. of Tuttle, Oklahoma; his mother, Norma (Tom) Allen of Statesville, North Carolina; four children; three grandchildren; a sister, Cristy Nettles of Raleigh, North Carolina; and a half-sister.

 

A memorial service will be set at a later date and time.

BERNARR TARTER, 87 OF JUNCTION CITY

Bernarr Tarter, of Junction City, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at his home. He was 87 years of age.

 

Born on April 6, 1933, in Liberty, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Delmer and Edith Coffman Tarter. Bernarr was a retired dairy farmer, mechanic, and an US Army Veteran. He also enjoyed working with electronics. Bernarr was of the Baptist faith.

 

Survivors include his wife, Martha Hoskins Tarter of Junction City; four sons, Keith (and Kenwyn) Tarter of Danville, Robert (and Stephanie) Tarter of West Virginia, Jeff (and Regina) Tarter of Junction City, and Gary (and Yvonne) Tarter of New York; six grandchildren, Bobby Jonathan, Benjamin, Hannah, Courtney, and Zack; and two great-grandchildren, Leo and Kai.

 

In addition to his parents, Bernarr was preceded in death by two brothers, Mont Tarter and John Tarter; and one sister, Patricia Bailey.

 

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at Glenwood Cemetery.  Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at Glenwood Cemetery.

RIGGIN BURKE HICKS, INFANT

Riggin Burke Hicks was born and passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at St. Joseph East in Lexington, Kentucky.

 

Riggin was the son of Matthew and Kelly Burke Hicks of Liberty. He is also survived by a brother, Rody Hicks of Liberty; maternal grandparents, Gary and Missy Burke of Liberty; paternal grandparents, Doug and Vicky Hicks of Hustonville; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 

Riggin is preceded in death by his grandmother, Phyllis Burke.

 

Funeral services will be held privately for family only. Burial will be held at Green River Valley Cemetery.
