DARRYL KING

Darryl King, age 81 of Crab Orchard, KY passed away on Thursday July 29th, 2021, Select Specialty Hospital. He was born January 18th, 1940, in Casey Co., KY, a son of the late James Wesley King and Monnie Fencie Murphy King.

 

Darryl was a former employee of B & B Buffing in Harrodsburg, KY.

 

Survivors include: His Spouse: Frances Smith King, Two Sons: Darryl Ray King of Harrodsburg and Donald Louis King of Stanford, Three Daughters: Stephanie Mastin of Crab Orchard, Sharon Baso of Mt. Vernon and Cheryl Moynihan of Crab Orchard, Ten Grandchildren, Sixteen Great Grandchildren, Three Brothers: Lilburn King of Junction City, KY, Bearl King of Liberty and Thomas King of Lancaster and One Sister: Aline Coontz of Junction City, KY.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents was his first spouse: Gracie Pemberton King, Four Brothers: Noble, J.C., Loyell and Theodore King and Three Sisters: Gertrude Peyton, Decie King and Mary Ann King.

 

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Monday August 2nd, 2021, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday August 3rd, 2021, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

JOHN PATSEY

 

John Patsey, age 93 of Somerset passed from this life on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the Neighborhood.  He was born on June 20, 1928 in Philippi, (Barbour County), West Virginia, son of the late John Patsey and Alice Arquier.  John was a graduate of the West Virginia Institute of Technology where he earned his degree in Industrial Education.  He then went on study at the George Washington University in Washington where he met the love of his life, Betty Bryant.

John was of the Methodist Faith and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Somerset.  He held several positions at First United and gave many faithful years of dedicated and supportive service to the ministry.  John  was a former member of the Citizen’s National Bank Board, a private plane pilot, avid golfer and member of the Somerset County Club.  He was an entrepreneur with a keen business sense.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter; Allyson Patsey, a brother; Reve Patsey and two sisters; Mary Sims and Helena “Pat” Kendall.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 65 years; Betty Bryant Patsey, whom he married on December 23, 1955 in Round Hill, Virginia.  He is also survived by three sons; John Drew (Brooke) Patsey of Barrington, Illinois, Kevin Dean Patsey and Edward David (Lillian) Patsey all of Lexington, and two grandchildren; Nicholas and Andrew Patsey. 

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021 in the Chapel of First United Methodist Church, 99 South Central Avenue, Somerset.  The Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, August 2, 2021 in the church chapel with Rev. Chris Basil Officiating.  Interment will be in the Mill Springs National Cemetery.  Full Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion #38.

 

RHONDA ARMS

 

Rhonda Arms, age 53 of Nancy Kentucky passed from this life on July 28th, 2021 in Lexington Kentucky. She was born March 12th, 1968 to Carson and Geneva Eldridge in Hazard Kentucky. 

Rhonda was a member of the Ringgold Church of God. She loved to cook and make candy. She also enjoyed Halloween and Christmas. 

Rhonda is preceded in death by her father, Carson Eldridge. 

She has left to cherish her memory her husband, Charles Arms; mother, Geneva Brock; her sons, Joshua Kevin Williams of Somerset Kentucky, Stephen (Debbie) Williams of Somerset Kentucky, David Lee Arms of Nancy Kentucky, Charles Jeffrey Arms of Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Megan Arms of Nancy Kentucky; brother, Carson Randall (JoJo) Eldridge of Garland Band Kentucky; aunt Prudie Janes Lewis of Hazard Kentucky; brother in law, Ralph (Germie) Arms of Somerset Kentucky; and a host of friends, Tony Burton, Dewey Cunnigan, April Kutey, Jake Renner. 

Visitation for Rhonda Arms will be held at Southern Oaks Funeral Home on Friday, July 30th at 5:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 31st at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Southern Oaks Cemetery.  

 

PATSY HOUNCHELL

 

Patsy Ruth Jeffries Hounchell, 85, of Hustonville passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.  Born October 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Forrest and Vaudis Followell Jeffries.  Patsy was a member of Charity Church of God where she served as treasurer.  She was retired from Jackson Chair.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dallas Gene Jeffries and Shirley Forrest Jeffries.  Patsy is survived by two sisters, Sadie Russell of Ellisburg and Wanda (Wendell) Smith of Hustonville, and nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 9:30AM-1:00PM Saturday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home.  A Funeral Service will follow at 1 pm with Rev. Marvin Hatton officiating.  Burial is in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers are her nephews: Kevin Smith, Bruce Smith, Keith Smith, Greg Jeffries, Scott Jeffries, Joey Jeffries, and Courtney Jeffries.  Honorary pallbearers are Marcie Ellis, Lowell Jeffries, Bud Jeffries, Orville Jeffries, Steve Russell, Ricky Russell, and her great nieces and great nephews.  

 

HELEN CLARK

 

Helen Allen Clark, 94, of Bloomfield, Indiana passed away Wednesday July 28, 2021 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon, Indiana, with her family by her side.

Born March 2, 1927 in Casey County, Kentucky the daughter of Chester and Retha (Sweeden) Atwood.

Helen worked as a cook at Indiana University and White’s Bakery and Deli. Helen loved to crochet, read, travel and spend time with her grandchildren and family.

Helen is survived by her nine children, Carolyn Allen (David) Voorhies, Jim (Cathy) Allen, Rosemary Allen Biggs, Janice Allen Flynn, Daniel Allen, Gerald “Eddie” Allen, Pamela Allen Cunningham, Sharon Allen (OJ) Johnson and Brenda Allen (Allen) Rose, she has fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and five siblings, Shearl Atwood, Hazel Sroczynski, Don Atwood, Phyllis Black and Ruby Cox.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Roy Allen, her second husband James William Clark, seven siblings, Dorothy Allen, Dee Atwood, Earl Atwood, Marvin Atwood, Chester Wayne Atwood, Merel Atwood and Bernice Atwood.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 P.M. on Sunday and 12 P.M. Monday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Jeff Williams and Pastor Herb Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Cemetery.

The family wishes any memorial donations in Helen’s name be given to IU Health Hospice or Newark Cemetery.

 

RENA BUCHANAN

 

Rena Kay (née Stallard) Buchanan's spirit left this world on July 26, 2021 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, Kentucky. She was born on January 1, 1942 to Helen (née Anderson) Stallard and Samuel Orbin Stallard, both of whom are now deceased. Surviving her are her husband, Calvin Buchanan; her sister, Wanda Frye; her brother-in-law, Randy Frye; her niece, Shelly Souders (and Jeff); her nephew, Sam Dick (and Marlana); her grandnieces, Samantha Gides (and Patrick), Amanda Conner, and Savannah Dick; and her great-grandnephew and niece, Chase and Isla. She was always extremely proud of her nieces and nephews.

 

Mrs. Buchanan was recognized as a devotee to the field of education and especially to the Pulaski County School System. Having taught language arts and business classes at the high school for 29 years; she was transferred to Southwestern High School at its opening in 1993, where she assisted by creating its business department. Retiring from Southwestern, she also taught business classes at Somerset Community College, the Center for Rural Development, and for the Adult Education Program. She ended her career in the field of education by creating, organizing, and maintaining an office for the Pulaski County School System's official records. In many positive ways, Mrs. Buchanan touched the lives and futures of innumerable Pulaski Countians over a  span of five decades.

 

She is a member of the Church of Christ, having remained faithful from the time she had reached the age of accountability and made her confession, to the present.

 

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Dr. Sam Dick officiating.

 

Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

FLOYD HELTON

 

Seaman Second Class Floyd Dee Helton was killed aboard the USS Oklahoma on December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He was born on March 27th, 1923 to Herbert Dee Helton and Lillie Mae Roberts Helton in Tateville, Ky.

Floyd attended school in the Somerset Independent Schools before moving to California with his Mother. He was a participant in the Civilian Conservation Corps, Boulder City, Nevada prior to his enlistment in the United States Navy in 1940. Following basic training, Helton began serving aboard the battleship USS Oklahoma on August 13,1941 and continued to serve until his death at the age of 18.

Along with 428 fellow shipmates, Floyd’s body was initially buried in Hawaii. DNA and dental records positively identified his remains in April, 2020 and led to the decision by his family to bring him home to Pulaski County, Kentucky.

Floyd is survived by his half-sister, Louise Helton Valentour and half-sister-in-law Willena Mullins Helton, both of Cincinnati, Ohio. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

The reburial with full military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31 in the Sloans Valley Cemetery beside his father and near the resting places of his two grandfathers.

MARY GILREATH

 

Mary Ruth Gilreath age 93 of Somerset, Kentucky went to be with her Lord Saturday July 24, 2021 at Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center. Mary was born on September 9, 1927 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to the late Carl and Hazel Moore King. 

 

Mrs. Gilreath was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years , Elmer Gilreath, whom she married November 27, 1943; son, Maurice Gene Gilreath; grandson, Maurice Gene “Geno” Gilreath Jr., son in law, Ralph Ferring.  

 

Mary Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter Judy Ferring of Somerset; sister, Margaret Terry of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Mona Lisa Cook Haught (Stan) of Columbus, Ohio, William Jason Perkins (Sherry) of Eubank, Kentucky, and Karen Lynn Beresh (Don) of Morrow, Ohio; great grandchildren, Micheal Haught, Anna Haught, Hunter Sadoff, and Cole Carter; daughter in law, Sandra Gilreath of Pine Knot, Ky; sister, Margaret Kidd Terry of Cincinnati, Ohio; She also leaves behind a host of friends and families, especially dear to her was her church families.  

 

She was saved at the East Pine Knot Tabernacle on June of 1948, she later joined and was baptized there. Mary continued being active at the church until she came to live with her daughter in 2006, where she later joined Immanuel Baptist Church. 

 

Services for Mrs. Gilreath will be held at East Pine Knot Tabernacle with Tim Moore, Harold Baird, David Perry and Malachi Barnett officiating on Sunday August 8th, at 2 P.M. Inurnment will follow at the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Cemetery.   

 

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or Gideon Bible Memorial Plan.  

 

ERIC HOWELL

 

Eric W. Howell age 54, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Sunday, July 25, 2021 at UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. 

Eric was born August 29, 1966 to Carthel Howell and Emma Lucille Schafer Howell in Rushville, Indiana. 

Through his Christian walk, Eric has touched so many lives. He shared his testimony with a smile and a fighting spirit during his illnesses. Eric always said, “God kept him around for a reason!” He was a family man and considered his wife and kids his greatest blessings. Eric attended the Creek Church with his family. Eric had been a longtime worker for Wal-mart; a P.C. Maroon and Somersport soccer fan, supporting his sons.  

Eric was preceded in death by his brother, Greg Howell. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his parents, Carthel and Emma Howell; wife, Anne Howell; sons, Riley Howell and Luke Howell both of Somerset; brothers, Wade Howell (Rena) of Nancy; Tony Howell (Joy) of Colorado; sisters, Bertha Morris (David) of Rushville, IN; Joyce Smith Watson of IN; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Joyce Willis; brother-in-law, Bobby Willis; sister-in-law, Shawn Howell of Somerset; special friends, Steve and Trina Baker, Jeff and Jana Litton, and Janet Evans; along with a host of friends and family.  

Visitation will be held Friday, July 30, 2021 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1 P.M. with Bro. David Bullock and Bro. Ed Amundson officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.

NORMAN PIERCE

 

Norman Louis Pierce, age 93, of Nancy, KY, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Baptist Health Louisville. 

Norman was born on April 30, 1928 in Burnetta, KY., to the late Ezra Pierce and Ona Tarter Pierce. He loved farming, loved his church, Burnetta Baptist Church, where he was a lifelong member. He was one of the original producers for Southern Belle Dairy.

He is survived by a son, Roger (and Kimberly) Pierce of Nancy, KY; a daughter, Shelia (and Billy) Barker of Nancy, KY; four grandchildren, Jason (and Lindsey) Pierce, Tyler (and Brooke) Pierce, Cory Pierce, and Josh (and Denise) Barker; three great-grandchildren, Eliza, Tenley, and Harlow and two sisters-in-law, Betty Jo Pierce of Nancy, KY and Wanda Pierce of Somerset, KY.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Toms Pierce, whom he married on December 21, 1946 in Somerset and she preceded him on September 6, 2016; five brothers, Gordon Pierce, Linville Pierce, Ralph Pierce, Denton Pierce and Paul Pierce; and one sister, Thelma Dalton.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Mounce officiating. Burial will be in the Burnetta Cemetery.

ROBERT COLLINS

 

Robert Lee Collins, age 72, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at his residence.

Robert was born on March 2, 1949 in Somerset, KY to the late Ernest Eugene Collins and Ernestine Marie McDowell Collins.   He was a 1968 graduate of Somerset High School.  Robert worked for the U.S. Forestry Service and later traveled all over as a Class A truck driver.  He loved fishing, nature, hot-rods and spending time with his family.

He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Collins (and Elise Suarez) of Louisville, KY, Robyn Collins of Louisville, KY, Dr. Brittany (and Ron) Collins Hampton of Saginaw, MI; one son, Christian (and Ami) Collins of Fort Washington, MD; one sister, Joella Corbitt of Houston, TX; one grandson, Seth Adam Pitts of Louisville, KY; one auntie, Sarah Stigall; and one niece, Stacye (and Gus) Collins-Donaldson of Houston, TX. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ernestine Collins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at South Maple Street Baptist Church in Somerset, KY.

Robert’s memorial service will follow on Saturday at 1:00pm at South Maple Street Baptist Church with Rev. James Bartleson officiating.  Burial will be at Stanford-Pike Cemetery at a later date.

ROBERT GILLESPIE

 

Robert “Bob” Hiram Gillespie age 73 of Somerset Kentucky passed from this life on Saturday, July 24th 2021. He was born September 7th 1947 to the late Hiram and Jessie Gillespie in Runnemede, New Jersey. 

Robert enjoyed playing solitaire. He was an avid gun and knife collector and a history buff.  

He has been reunited with his sweetheart, Karen Gillespie. Along with his parents and sister, Nancy Elliot. 

He has left to cherish his memory his daughters, Jessica Gillespie of Somerset, Katherine (Chris) Hisle of Somerset, Christine (Jared) Busker of Somerset, Shannon Gillespie of Somerset; grandchildren, Alexis Gillespie, Rylee Gillespie, Emma Fultz, Evelyn Busker; a special cousin Carolyn Tice and a host of friends and family. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 28th at noon with funeral services to follow at 1:00 P.M. at Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

RICK GROSS

 

Rick Gross age 62, of Burnside, Kentucky passed from this life Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. 

Rick was born October 11, 1958 to the late Forrester and Faye Gross in Lebanon, Ohio. 

He volunteered at Garland Bend Home Owner’s Association; he enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, the beach and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. 

Rick was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jason Lake. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Karen Gross; son, Dustin Gross (Tabitha) of Burnside, Ky; daughter, Kelli Lake (Tom Brag) of Dry Ridge, Ky; brothers, Jerry Gross and Eddie Gross; sisters, Loretta Thomas, Linda Logan, Kathy Fisher, Connie Cole, Tena Kolb, Becci Young; grandchildren, Logan Gross and Elleah Gross; along with a host of friends, family, nieces and nephews. 

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 4 to 6 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home, with a funeral service to begin at 6 P.M.

 

DONALD KOONS

 

Donald “Don” Galen Koons age 85, of Nancy, Kentucky passed from this life Monday, July 26, 2021 at his home. 

Don was born November 27, 1935 to the late Charles Clifford Koons and Sarah Hazel Soudder Koons in Patriot, Indiana. 

He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, loved farming, gardening, and to travel. Don proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. 

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sarah Koons; daughter, Kimberly Lynn Wells; brothers, John Wesley Koons, Denver Elmo Koons, Leon Koons; sisters, Thelma Jean Jahnigen and Doris Marie Selemeyer.  

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Reva Jean Ellis Koons, whom he married on October 3, 2009; sons, Donald Koons of Nancy; Jerry (Annie) Koons of Hamilton, OH; Ronald “Ronnie” Galen (Laura) Koon of Hamilton, OH; Wayne (Charlotte) Koons of Hamilton, OH; daughters, Lisa (Mike) Baker of Hamilton, OH; Doris Marie (Paul) Haven of Chattanooga, TN; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and special friends, Burley Couch, Greg Hall, Kay McGowan, Wilma Wilson; along with a host of friends and family. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1 P.M. with Bro. Chris Blevins officiating, burial will follow in the Hudson-Weddle Cemetery.  

 

MANUELL CORRELL

 

Manuel Hilton Correll, age 49, of Nancy, KY, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021.

Manuel was born on March 31, 1972 in Somerset, KY to Shirley West Calhoun and the late Manuel Correll.  He loved fishing, being outdoors, NASCAR and collecting miniature NASCAR cars.  Manuel especially loved spending time with his grandkids.   

He is survived by his mother, Shirley West Calhoun of Somerset; his step-father, Thomas Calhoun of Somerset; two sons, Tony Randall of Science Hill and Mark Barbazote (and Brittany Smith) of Somerset; two daughters, Savina Hawkins of Somerset and Summer Correll (and Charles Purkerson) of Somerset; one brother, Eddie Ray Correll (and Dana Glover) of Somerset; one sister, Karen Kingsley of Nancy; eleven grandkids, Brea Hawkins, Dina Hawkins, Envi Hawkins, Luna Hawkins, Octavia Randall, Masey Randall, Elijah Barbazote, Mark Barbazote, Jr., Wyatt James Barbazote, Kylynn Barbazote and Charles Purkerson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with his father he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dina Barbazote; paternal grandparents, George (and Eunice) West; one grandson, Acheron Hawkins; and one son-in-law, James Earl Hawkins III.

A Graveside service will be held at Beech Grove Cemetery at a later date.

BERNICE MOREFIELD

 

Bernice Morefield, 76, of Waynesburg, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the Stanford Care & Rehab.

 

She was born July 18, 1945 in Estill County, Kentucky; daughter of the late George & Clessie (Estes) Gordon. She was a homemaker and loved her family dearly.

 

She is survived by her husband, Willie Morefield; a son, Charles Faddis, Jr. of Corbin; a daughter, Karen Farr of Eubank; a brother, George Gordon, Jr. of Kings Mountain; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Randy Lee Faddis.

 

A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

 

Burial will be in Northside Memorial Gardens.

 

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

 

IRVINE YORK

 

Irvine Leonard York, 79, of Eubank, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Baptist Health Hospital, Lexington, KY.

He was born July 4, 1942 in Eubank, KY; son of the late Rev. Gernie & Josephine Durham York. He was a retired employee of Crane, Inc., a farmer, a veteran of U.S. Airforce and a member of the Eubank Baptist Church where he was involve in helping with the Northern Pulaski County Food Program.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Deane Abbott York; his children, Timothy Irvine York of Eubank; Kimberly Bybee of Monticello; and David Wayne York of Lincoln County; four grandchildren, Timothy Andrew York, Whitney Whitaker, Justin York, Zachary Bybee; seven great-grandchildren, Mason York, Hunter York, Lilly York, Eli Whitaker, Landon York, Silas York and Ezra York.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Jasimine York.

EzeKiel Wayne King, the infant son of Christopher and Krischa Richardson King, passed from this life on Friday, July 23, 2021 at his home.  

He was born on June 6, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.  

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry King and his great-grandfather, Carroll Lewis.  

He is survived by his parents, Christopher and Krischa King; three sisters, Aubrey King, Praylee King and Serenity King; paternal grandparents, Lora Lewis King (Mike Rush) of Tateville; maternal grandparents, Charles and Rebecca Rowe Livingston of Somerset; great-grandparents, Debbie and Hubert Rowe of Science Hill, Betty Lewis of Tateville, Kenneth Naylor of Shopville, Nyoka Naylor (Freddie) of Eubank; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

TIMOTHY FOX

 

Timothy J. Fox, age 58 of Nancy, KY passed from this life on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on August 2, 1962 in Somerset, KY. Son of the late Wesley M. Fox and Lena A. Fox.

Tim was a Dairy Farmer from a very early age and spent many years doing the job he loved. He had a special bond with his family, his cows, and his border collies. He enjoyed working, fishing, and tractor pulling and was a strong competitor in the LLSS Class with his tractor “Ruby” for many years. To all that knew Tim, there was always that next cow to milk, field to plant and harvest, fish to catch and that next pull to try his best to win. He was of the Baptist faith, loved God, his church and his church family. Tim said to tell family and friends “When my time comes try not to worry and cry for me, be happy for me, I am a child of the King”.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Mark Fox.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Cindy Fox; son, Haydon Fox of Nancy; stepsons, Jeremy Hutson of Nancy, Tyler Hutson of Church Hill, TN; sisters, Melissa (Les) Grant of Nancy and Wanda Robertson of Somerset; nieces and nephews, Jonathan Fox, Amanda (Greg) Titus, Liam Burchett, Hannah Grant, Sarah Grant, all of Nancy; and many other family members and friends.

Richard Walden, age 70 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

He was born on December 27, 1950 in Somerset, son of Pauline Lockard Walden and the late R B Walden.

He was a retired dairy farmer and a Vietnam Veteran proudly serving his country in the United States Army. He was a graduate of Burnside High School Class of 1968, a member of Hightop Baptist Church in Keavy, KY, a member of VFW #269 Warriors Roost Shopville, a member of American Legion Post #38 Somerset, former Pastor of Sunrise Baptist Church and Canaan Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, riding his four wheeler, and taking his dog “Lady” for her daily ride.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jane Walden, whom he married on September 5, 1968 in Jamestown, TN; sons, Rick Walden of Eubank and Kelly Joe Walden of Somerset; mother, Pauline Walden of Eubank; brother, Paul Walden (Judy) of Muncie, IN; grandchildren, Jared Walden (Ashley Ping), Jordan Walden (Naresa), Shawna Walden-Vanhook (Cain Rodriguez); great-grandchildren, Jax Walden, Preston Vanhook, Weston Vanhook, Gracelyn Vanhook; sisters-in-law, Barbara Woods of Somerset, Audrey Sutton of Clarksville, TN, and Carol Ann Lovell of Tateville; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Lovell (Ruby) of Bedford, IN and Jerry Lovell of Bloomington, IN.

Wayne Raney, of Casey County, departed from this life on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Stanford Care and Rehab. He was 72.

Born on July 7, 1949, in Boyle County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Edgar and Mae Coleman Raney.

Wayne’s life was enriched by friends and staff while he attended “Just Family” in Liberty for eighteen years. Wayne’s integrity and work ethics were apparent daily in his perfectionism world. His memory was unbelievable. Wayne brought a smile to the room by just walking in. He was never afraid to share his opinion or love for his family and friends. Wayne was kindhearted, had an incredible sense of humor, was an avid UK fan, and was so loved by all who knew him. He was able to teach his family members more about life than life itself. As he closed his eyes to rest in peace, we were able to remind Wayne how much we loved him. We are so glad God chose us to be his family.

He is survived by three sisters, Beverly (Winford) Blair of Columbia, Lisa (T.Y.) Fisher of Danville, and Tammy (Steve) Dunn of Lexington; a brother, Brent (Melody) Raney of Nancy; five nephews, four nieces, eight great-nieces, five great-nephews, and one great-great nephew.

By Wayne’s request, a graveside service will be held 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eric Raney, Brandon Raney, T.Y. Fisher, Chris Blair, Steve Dunn, and Winford Blair.

Ephraim Z. Burkholder, of Liberty, passed away on July 24, 2021, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. He was 61 years and 4 months.

Ephraim was born March 24, 1960 in Union Co., PA, a son of Amos Burkholder and the late Anna Zimmerman Burkholder.

He is survived by his wife, Ada H. Burkholder; children, Martha (and Raymond) Shirk, Paul (and Marian) Burkholder, James (and Laura) Burkholder, Elizabeth (and Wayne) Brubaker, Anna (and Jonathan) Shirk, and Isaac Burkholder; 32 grandchildren; his father, Amos Burkholder; 2 sisters; and 4 brothers.

He was preceded in death by his mother: 1 sister; and 2 grandchildren.

Gary Floyd, of Mintonville, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at his home. He was 71.

 

Born January 26, 1950, in Pulaski Co., KY, he was a son of the late Carlos and Morine Jasper Floyd. Gary was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the Mintonville Masonic Lodge #392 and the Craftsman Masonic Lodge #722. He was also a member of the Egypt Shriners Organization in Tampa, FL. Gary was a member of the Green River Christian Church.

 

Survivors include his brother, Wayne Floyd of Fruitland Park, FL; sister, Joyce Russell of Mt. Washington; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Freddy and Carlos “C.B.” Floyd; sister-in-law, Betty Floyd; and brother-in-law, Russ Russell.

 

Masonic funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the Mintonville United Methodist Church. There will be a visitation after 2:00PM on Tuesday at the Church.

Ruby Aliene Hayes, age 83 of Dunnville, KY passed away on Saturday July 24th, 2021, at Baptist Health Lexington. She was born July 21st, 1938, in Hustonville, KY, a daughter of the late Clifton Arvin “Crip” Mayes and Dovie Beatrice Lee Mayes.

 

Ruby was the widow of Talmadge Odell Hayes who passed away on August 11th, 2018.

Ruby was a homemaker.

RODNEY SEARS

 

Rodney Dale Sears, age 57, of Somerset, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born on February 24, 1964 in Somerset, son of the late Arnold E. Sears and Linda Ann Cook Sears.  Rodney was a laborer in the sawmill industry and was also self-employed worker in the landscaping business.  He was a kind-hearted, generous and loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing bingo, fishing and being sociable with his friends.  He was of the Apostolic-Pentecostal Faith and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and by the “love of his life”; Penny and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted daughter; Codie (D. J.) Bishop of Somerset and Kristy Sears also of Somerset, a son; Rodney Caleb Sears of Eubank, a brother; Darren Wayne (Sharon) Sears, two sisters; Barbara Sears and Karen (Jerry) Dick all of Somerset, three grandchildren; Ryan Bishop, Conner Brumley, Ava Grace Stewart and special cousin; Ricky Sears of Somerset as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

ROGER PHELPS

 

Roger Phelps, 72, of Eubank, Kentucky went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 18, 2021.

He was born to Cecil and Ella Mae Whitaker Phelps on July 30, 1948.
He retired from the Oakwood training facility in Somerset, Kentucky after many years of faithful service.

He loved fishing, bowling and being outdoors. Roger was an avid Kentucky Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds fan, a farmer and was of the Baptist faith.
Roger lived in the Stab community most of his life and his neighbors were extended family to him. He was an Army veteran and served his country during the Vietnam era.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Ella Phelps and a twin brother, Ronald Phelps.

He is survived by a son, Roger Shane Phelps a daughter in Law; Ashley Phelps, a daughter Jessica Denney , a son in law; Joshua Denney, five grandchildren, Levi, Ayona and Accleshia Phelps and Sean And Caitlin Denney, a sister Linda and Willard Rucker and a sister in law Doris Phelps. He is also survived by numerous cousins he loved and a special brother in heart , Jimmy Carlton.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

James W. Heath, age 75 of Somerset Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, July 18th, 2021 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland. He was born August 13th, 1945 in Louisville Kentucky to the late Theodore and Jewel Heath. 

Jim enjoyed playing tennis, pool, his guitar, walking his dog Toby, was an avid basketball fan, supporting both U of L Cards and UK Wildcats. Jim cherished his wife and step-son. 

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Tom Heath. 

He has left to cherish his memory his wife, Lynda Heath; step-son, Joseph Dungan (Mariam) of Somerset and sister Joyce Becker (Mark) Albany, New York.

George William “Billy” Marlow, Jr., age 64, of McKinney, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at his home. 

Born Thursday, January 24, 1957, in Danville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late George William, Sr., and the late Neil Coffman Marlow.  His loving wife, whom he married Friday, June 5, 1981, is Carolyn Luster Marlow of McKinney.  Billy was a carpenter and previously owned a saw mill.  Billy attended Green River Pentecostal Church, and was a member of the Science Hill Chapter of F&AM.  Billy loved to hunt, fish, woodwork, and the outdoors.  He was a jokester, loved to talk, never met a stranger, and would give the shirt right off his back to anyone in need.

In addition to his wife, Billy leaves behind one son, Danny Ray Marlow (Dara) of Hustonville, Kentucky; one daughter, Janet Marie Hansford (Gregory) of Liberty, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Keegan Hansford, Taylor Hansford, Zane Marlow, and Chase McCammon; two brothers, Timothy Marlow (Teresa) of Georgia and Lincoln Marlow of Hustonville; one sister, Regina Moore (Joe) of Hustonville; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing. 

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by two nephews, Barry Marlow and Clinton Marlow.

A Public Visitation will be held 6-8PM Sunday, July 25, 2021, and 11AM-1PM Monday, July 26, 2021, at Green River Pentecostal Church. 

The Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Monday at the church.  Bro. Rick Naylor will officiate the service.

Stacha was the widow of Kelly Vernon Hughes.

David Gerald Manuel, 56, of Crab Orchard, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at Berea Health & Rehabilitation.

 

He was born December 6, 1964 in Stanford; son of the late Woodrow & Edith (Denney) Manuel. David loved motorcycles, horses, jokes, sweets, pop, family, church, and friends. David was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crab Orchard. 

 

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow "Woody" Manuel, Jr. and his sisters, Mary Cathleen Manuel and Patricia Napier.

She was a member of Jordan Baptist Church; she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

Marconi Smith, age 89, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

Marconi was born on September 21, 1931 in Faubush, KY to the late Garfield Smith and Bessie Meeks Smith. He retired from the United States Airforce with 21 years of service.  He was a member of Lake Cumberland Church of the Nazarene.  Marconi was also a retired Insurance agent and KY Colonel.  He loved spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife, Della Dick Smith; one son, Douglas (and Judy) Smith of Columbus, GA: one daughter, Linda Marie (and Fred) Jaramillo of Lancaster, CA; two brothers, Larry (and Jill) Smith of Hamilton, OH and Garfield Smith of Somerset; one sister, Vona “Bonnie” Johnson of Indianapolis, IN; two grandchildren, Janice Leah (and Andy) Wilson and Grant Thomas (and Jill) Jaramillo; and four great- grandchildren, Adam Douglas Wilson, Sarah Wilson, Ezekiel Jaramillo, and Michaela Jaramillo.

ERNESTINE BEATY

Ernestine “Teenie” Beaty, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at her home. She was 82.

Born on October 16, 1938, in Taylor County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Catherine Wooley Noe. Teenie was a retired second grade teacher at Mannsville Elementary School for numerous years. She was a member of Mannsville Christian Church. She loved sitting on the porch and visiting with friends.

Teenie is survived by special friends, Matt (Kelly) Hicks, and son Rody, of Liberty and Sharon Francis of Taylor County; caretakers, Yvette McQueary, Amanda Luster, and Suezette Currie; and a host of cousins and other friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Beaty, who passed away on October 20, 2015.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Crenshaw, Bro. Kenny Dotson, and Bro. Sheridan Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Barnett’s Creek Cemetery.

WILLIAM CORBIN

William Ray Corbin, age 69, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation after a long illness due to a stroke.

Ray was born March 19, 1952, in Adair County, to the late Ray K. Corbin and Lela Roberts. He was a carpenter. Ray loved his truck and enjoyed going 4-wheeling and playing in the mud. He was a member of  Russell Springs Christian Church and loved attending when able.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Janet Peters Corbin, whom he wed on May 12, 1973; two brothers; Douglas Corbin of Jamestown and Michael Corbin of Glasgow; a sister; Ilene Coomer of Russell Springs; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his step-mother, Dorothy Roberts Corbin.

Funeral services are 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home with Brother Carroll Egnew and Brother Steven Corbin officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Lake Cemetery.

JODY HARMON

Jody Creed Harmon, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021, in Danville, Kentucky. He was 52.

Born on May 22, 1969, in Aurora, Illinois, he was the son of the late William and Mary Alice Justice Harmon. Jody was a brick mason. He enjoyed fishing, camping, singing bluegrass gospel music, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.

He is survived by two daughters, Whitney (Michael) Cash of Perryville and Dezarae Wethington of Danville; five grandchildren, Addison, Carson, Nathan, Aurora, and Devin; a sister, Lexi Harmon of Liberty; and a brother, William Harmon of Liberty. Other survivors include three half-sisters, Linda Roberts, Virginia Shea, and Margaret Kessinger, all of Versailles; and two half-brothers, Vernon Harmon and Roger Harmon.

In addition to his parents, Jody is preceded in death by his wife, Linda King Harmon, who passed away on April 18, 1994; a sister, Lori Harmon; and a brother, Vincent Harmon.

William D. Baker age 59, of Tateville, Kentucky passed from this life Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. 

 

William was born April 15, 1962 to the late George Baker and Olive Floyd Baker in Jabez, Kentucky. 

He was of the Baptist faith and loved to fish, work on old cars, hunt arrow heads and cherished his family. 

 

Along with his parents; he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Baker, Stephen Baker, sisters, Reva Waters, Margarette Baker and Mary Baker.

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons, Josh Baker, Kyle Baker and Aaron Baker all of Tateville; brother, Rural Floyd (Claire) of Bronston; sisters, Retha Bryeans of Las Vegas; Alice Lawless (Ronald) of Liberty, KY; Elizabeth Kisee of Nancy, KY; Barbara Boyer (Ronnie) of Science Hill, KY; Becky Walsh (Terry) of Cordydon, IN; grandchildren, Jameson and Gracie Baker of Tateville, KY; along with several special nieces and nephews.

Edna “Joan” Lane, age 89, of Somerset, KY passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Signature Health Summit Manor in Columbia, KY.

 

Joan was born on December 13, 1931 in Jellico, TN, to the late Milford and Minnie Ausmus Ollis.

 

She is survived by one son, Michael (Richelle) Lane of Fairfield, OH; two daughters, Linda Lane of Somerset, KY and Lois Lane of Nancy, KY; one sister, Evelyn Anderson; four grandchildren, Tanya Lane, Mandy Lane, Alexis Fike-Lane, and Aryssa Lane, and three great-grandchildren, Allen Lane, Alena Lane, and Dakota Lane.

 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Lane; two sons, Ronald Lane and Keith Lane; two grandchildren, James Lane and Jamie Lane; three sisters, Estie Cinnamon, Roxie Taylor and Florence; and two infant brothers.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

ELIZABETH FLYNN

 

Elizabeth Ann Flynn, age 74, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

 

Elizabeth was born on November 30, 1946 to the late William York and Oneida Mayfield York. She was of the Baptist faith.  Elizabeth especially loved spending time with her family and grandkids.  She was a great woman of faith and was looking forward to seeing her Lord and Savior.

 

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Flynn of Somerset, whom she married on August 25, 1961; three daughters, Connie (and Andrew) Woodcock of Somerset, Collene Mink of Somerset and Bernice (and Jimmy Lee) Bates of Danville; a brother, William “Bill” York of Somerset; a sister, Ella Mae (and Jim) Mize of Somerset and five grandchildren, Callie, Natasha, Cody, Haley, and Jordan; and nine great-grandchildren, Riley, Daven, Addison, Wesley, Austin, Ryder, Kylynn, Faithlyn and Kyser.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Oneida York.

 

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

RALPH CONVERSE

 

Ralph Converse, of Yosemite, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Danville Centre for Health and Rehab. He was 84.

 

Born on October 14, 1936, in Troy, Illinois, he was the son of the late Harold and Kathryn Ruhl Converse. Ralph was a Personnel Director for the State of Illinois for around thirty years. Ralph was a Christian. He enjoyed farming, fishing, hiking, reading, and astronomy. He had a bachelor’s degree in economics.

 

Ralph is survived by two sons, Martin Converse and Jeff Converse; and a brother, Randall Converse.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Converse.

 

Services for Mr. Ralph Converse will be held at a later date.

PHYLLIS PHILLIPS

 

Phyllis A. Phillips age 79, of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center.  

 

Phyllis was born February 15, 1942 to the late Ernest Vestal and Minnie Jones Vestal New in Parkers Lake, Kentucky. 

 

She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed playing bingo at 27 Bingo Hall, Animal Protection League, she enjoyed rides through the mountains to enjoy the scenery. Phyllis painted Bob Ross style paintings in which she had won an award for.  

 

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alonzo Phillips, daughter, Kimberly Kay Hawkins-Grantland, brother, Kenneth, sisters, Corrina Henry and Sharon Anderson.

 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, Eric Hawkins (Denada Knight) of Pine Knot, brother, Ernest Lee Jr. (Sue) of Sidney, OH, sisters, Georgie Kendrick (Derwood) of Chattanooga, TN, special sister, Shirley Farrow of Fayetteville, NC, brother in law, Larry Henry, special nieces, Brandy Stephens and Barbara Gonzalez, grandchildren, Kimberly Hawkins of Sidney, OH, Dustin Hawkins of Sandy Hook, Rhonda Kay Coffey (Alan) of Parkers Lake, KY and Leslie Stevens.

LINDA THOMAS

Linda Thomas, of Dunnville, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 5, 2021, at the age of 70, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset.

Born on July 22, 1950, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Daisy Luttrell Holt. Linda was added to the Church of Christ through baptism in 2012 and remained faithful until her death.

She is survived by her husband of forty years, John Brent Thomas, who she wed on February 23, 1981. She is also survived by six brothers, Carson Holt, Mark (Teresa) Holt, Eddie (Shirley) Holt, Eldon Holt, Bruce (Valerie) Holt, and Larry Holt. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Holt and Wayne Holt.

Shirley Stewart, 95, of Somerset, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the Jean Waddle Care Center.

 

She was born in Pulaski Co., Kentucky on November 26, 1925; daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth Whitis Bishop. She was a homemaker and farmed throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was a member of Fellowship Methodist Church.

 

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Stewart; a son-in-law, Lee Schafer; grandchildren, Kelli & (Rick) Eagle, Kevin & (Jenny) Langford, Ryan & (Ashley) Phelps, Rebecca & (Jordan) Wright; and great-grandchildren, Emma Wright, Cade Eagle, Ellie Eagle, Owen Wright, Ayiana Tallman, John Langford, Brandy Phelps, Nolan Wright, and Laine Wright.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vola K. Stewart; a son, Danny Stewart; a daughter, Bonnie Schafer; and host of brothers and sisters.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home.

 

Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

DIANA FLYNN

 

Diana Flynn, age 58, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at her residence.

 

Diana was born on December 18, 1962 in Somerset, KY, to the late Lowell B. Flynn and Ina Ruth Rice Flynn.  She was of Baptist faith. She loved her family and enjoyed crafting, sewing, listening to music, and going to yard sales. Diana was a beautician, then went to college where she earned her nursing degree. She practiced as a Registered Nurse for many years in Pulaski County, Casey County, KY and Clayton, NC. Diana excelled at everything she did.

 

She is survived by one brother, Richard (and Judy) Flynn of Somerset; one sister, Carlene (and Jimmy) Curry of Somerset; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Flynn of Nancy, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Rodger Darrell Flynn.

A private graveside service for the immediate family will be held at Bethlehem Cemetery.

Norman Farris Walls, 62, of Eubank, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at the Ephraim McDowell Hospital.

 

He was born January 18,1959 in Danville; son of the late Carlos & Pauline (Baugh) Walls. He worked in construction in masonry as an odd carrier.

 

He is survived by his wife, Debbie (York) Walls; a son, Chris Walls of Eubank; a daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Walls of Somerset; seven brothers, James R. Walls of Hustonville, John D. & (Louise) Walls of Science Hill, Lloyd & (Janie) Walls of Moreland, Donnie & (Velma) Walls of Waynesburg, Ronnie Walls of Stanford, Barry & (Gail) Walls of Stanford, and Sammy & (Ruth) Wall of Lancaster; a sister, Sue Oney a grandson, Ty Walls of Somerset; and several nieces & nephews.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Laymon, Darrell, & Randall Walls; and a sister, Connie Walls.

GENEVA LOGAN

 

Geneva Joyce Logan passed from this life, Monday, July 5, 2021 at the age of 86.


Joyce was born on March 27, 1935 to Fred and Nell Bolin they preceded her in death.


Joyce leaves behind her loving husband of 70 years, Clifford Logan. They were united in marriage on February 2, 1951 in Burnside, Kentucky.


She is survived by her daughter; Tammy (Jamie) Phelps, Her grandchildren; Jay Logan, Arraya Phelps, Jerrod Phelps and Abella Phelps, a sister; Dean Stamper of Middlesboro, Kentucky as well as several nieces and nephews.


Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, a son; Jerry Wayne Logan, three sisters; Freida Love , Doris Pitman, and Margaret Groves and two brothers; Glen and Kenneth Bolin.


Joyce enjoyed dancing, music and her grand-babies. She was free giving to anyone she met and never met a stranger.


Family will receive friends Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. at Pulaski Funeral Home.

INA ALLEN VAUGHT

 

Ina Allen Vaught, age 92 of Liberty, KY passed away on Monday July 5th, 2021, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was born November 22nd, 1928, in Liberty, KY, a daughter of the late John Calvin and Mayme Vanoy Allen.

 

Ina was united in marriage to Eugene Vaught on January 17th, 1950.

 

Ina was the Co-Owner of Women’s World, longtime employee of Jim Dandy Market, Loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and a wonderful love for her family. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and working in her flowers, was a good cook and was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include: One Son: Darrell and (Wendy) Vaught of Westmoreland, TN, One Daughter: Barbara and the late Gale Scott, Six Grandchildren: Nicholas and (Laura) Scott, Adam and (Audrianna) Scott, Bethany and (Jamie) Watson, Megan Vaught, Gordon Vaught and (Camryn Weisenberger) and Jessica Vaught, Eleven Great Grandchildren, One Sister: Jewell Lynn of Liberty, Two Brothers: Quentin and (Jewell) Allen and Donald and (Sandy) Allen both of Hustonville and Sister-in-law: Edna Allen of Liberty.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was Two Brothers: Charles and Lowell Allen.

 

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. Thursday July 8th, 2021, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

SHIRLEY COLYER

 

Shirley Colyer, daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Brown Turner, was born in Somerset, KY on April 21, 1939 and she departed this life peacefully on July 4, 2021 having attained the age of 82 years.

 

She is survivd by the following children;  Timothy Colyer, Jeffery Colyer (and his wife Angela Baker-Colyer), Daniel Colyer (and his wife Deanna) Steven "Joe Joe" Colyer (and his wife Roberta), David Colyer, Jimmy Colyer, Sheila Colyer, Robert Colyer and John "Bull" Colyer (and his wife Crystal); four step-children; Joe Colyer, John Colyer, Helen Brown and Jane McDonald; the following brothers and sisters, Peggy Joyce Summers, Anna Mary Colyer, Nellie Marie Molen, Marvin "Buck" Bishop and Marlin "Bimbo" Rose. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren to numerous to mention by name, whom she loved very much.

 

She was preceded in death by the following children; Michael Lee Colyer, and Cathy Colyer, and the following brothers and sisters, Connie Mae Redding, Herman Lee Turner, Robert Howard Turner, Ruth Ann Westly, Pauline Florence Westly and Flora Mae Holler.

 

Shirley was a kind lady who loved her family more than life itself. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

Debbie Lynn Baker, age 64, of Nancy, KY, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

 

Debbie was born on November 19, 1956 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Elmer Hacker and Emma Lou Hamilton Baker.  She was a lifelong resident of Pulaski County and a 1974 graduate of Nancy High School.  Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family, grandkids, and nieces and nephews.  She especially enjoyed spoiling Gabe, Caleb, Silas and Charlee. In her spare time she liked crafting and watching movies.

 

She is survived by her son, Shane (and Laura) Baker of Somerset; two grandchildren, Gabe and Caleb Baker; four brothers, Robin Allen (and Tammy) Baker of Nancy, Randy Taylor (and Cindy) Baker of Nancy, Rodney Clayton (and Bernice) Baker of Nancy and Jeffery Sherman (and Elisabeth) Baker of Somerset; three sisters, Kimberly Jo (and Keith) Hammond of Nancy, Rhonda Kay Gibson of Nancy and Tammy Renea Baker of Nancy; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Heather (and Sidney) Stevenson of Nancy.

 

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her stepdad, Lawrence Allen Baker; one brother, Jerry Baker; and one nephew, Brandon Hammond.

Ferne Wilkinson Wyatt, age 96 of Liberty, KY passed away on Saturday July 3rd, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born September 8th, 1924, in Liberty, KY, a daughter of the late Claud and Sadie Laura Cochran Wilkinson.

 

Ferne was the widow of Rupert Paul Wyatt who passed away on July 18th, 1999.

Ferne was a housewife, a former employee of Brunswick, Zebco, Liberty Sportwear, OshKosh, and a former office employee of the Casey Co. Middle School.

 

Survivors include: Five Children: Claud Wyatt of Liberty, Roy Wyatt of Taylorsville, KY, Laurvida Petitt of Liberty, Peggy “Denise” Stefko of Liberty and R.P. Wyatt of Taylorsville, KY, Seventeen Grandchildren, Numerous Great Grandchildren, Numerous Great-Great-Grandchildren and One Brother: Curtis Wilkinson of Cincinnati, OH.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was One Son: Paul Wyatt, One Grandchild, One Sister: Faye Rigney and Two Brothers: Vertice and Franklin D. Wilkinson.

Born on April 12, 1930, in Pulaski County, Bernice was the daughter of the late Virgil Beasley and Mahaley Parton Beasley Redmon. She was a devoted homemaker, foster parent, clerk, and cook. Bernice was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include one son, Robert Lee Childress, of Dunnville; two daughters, Gail (and Gary) Gosser, of Russell Springs, and Diana (and Talmadge) Derringer, of Campbellsville. Survivors also include one grandson, Travis (and Michelle) Gosser, of Bardstown; one granddaughter-in-law, Crystal Gosser, of Russell Springs; and three great-grandchildren, Logan, Landon, and Kaleb Gosser.

 

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Childress, who passed away on January 19, 2017; three brothers, Estil Beasley, Millard Beasley, and Leonard Beasley; and seven sisters, Bertha McKinley, Gertrude Fox, Dora Baugh, Irene Baugh, Bessie Tarter, Ersie Delk, and Aldena Roberts; and one grandson, Trevor Gosser.

 

Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. C.S.T. on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with Brother Mark Yaden and Brother Dwight Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. C.S.T. until time of the service on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. 

 

Pallbearers for Bernice will be Alan Patterson, Keith Patterson, John Bastin, Jason Bastin, Jamie Walters, Logan Gosser, Landon Gosser, and Kaleb Gosser.

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Plano Fox, Dale Patterson, Don Lawson, Dennis Blakey, Noel Walters, Jim Tucker, Mike Bastin, and Winfred Harris.

MINDY FORD-CURRY

Mindy Roxanne Ford-Curry, age 60, of Russell Springs, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.

 

Born on January 10, 1961, she was daughter of the late A.G. Ford and Emily Guffey. Mindy was married to Davis Curry for 22 years. She worked for many years at Fruit of the Loom and Kroger.

 

She is survived by her son, Samuel (and Miranda) Dever of Fort Stewart, Georgia; and three grandsons, Branson, Elias, and Gabriel. She is also survived by her mother, Emily Guffey; five brothers; Michael (and Mary) Ford, Peter (and Edith) Ford, Matthew Ford, John (and Lila) Ford,  and Mark (and Sheila) Ford; and two sisters, Jennifer (and Eric) Humble, and Courtenay (and Tim) Brown.

 

Mindy was preceded in death by her father; and her daughter, Bethany Ford.

 

Funeral services are 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Brother Ronnie Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Lucinda Cemetery.

SHERRY PERKINS

Sherry Mae Perkins, age 55 of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Thursday July 1st, 2021, at her  residence.

 

She was born on September 25th, 1965, in Liberty, KY, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Locia Murphy Passmore.


Sherry was a housewife.


Survivors include: Two Sons: Jeffrey Craig Cochran of Versailles, KY and Brian Wayne Cochran of Danville, KY, Four Grandchildren: Carter, Maddox, Mason and Ethan and Two Brothers: David and Keith Passmore both of Liberty.


Preceding her in death besides her parents was her first husband: Jeffrey Wayne Cochran and Two Brothers: Anthony and Roy Passmore.

LUCILLE MORGAN

 

Lucille Morgan, age 98, of Science Hill, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Jean Waddle Care Center, after a short illness.

 

She was born on March 18, 1923 in Blackey, Kentucky; daughter of the late Bryant & Allie (Adams) Dixon. She was a long time member of Northside Baptist Church in Science Hill. Her love of God and gracious savior and church family gave her solace, especially the last few months when she was unable to attend church due to her failing health. She previously worked at Roses in the Tradewind Center for several years before retiring. She was very outgoing, never met a stranger, and was always ready to give a comforting hug.

 

Survivors include her grandson and caregive for the last several months, Anthony "Tony" Alcorn; two sisters, Martha Jane Burns of Blackey, Kentucky and Oma Jo Campbell of Indianapolis, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Morgan; a daughter, Allie Sue Alcorn; a grandson, John Alcorn; her parents, Bryant and Allie Dixon; three sisters, Lyle Hampton, Pauline Shepherd, and Mary Back; two brothers, Wayne Dixon and Herman Dixon.

 

A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Dave Muse officiating.

 

Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.

Brittany Nicole Hall, age 30 of Dunnville, KY passed away on Monday June 28th, 2021, at the Lake Cumberland Hospital. She was born on January 13th, 1991, in Danville, KY, a daughter of Paula Wethington and the late Johnny Hall.

Mr. Clarence Kelly Jr. 74, of Somerset, Kentucky departed this life on June 25,2021.


He was preceded in death by his parents; Clarence Kelly Sr. and Stacy Kelly.

 

He is survived by one Son; Mark Kelly and one daughter Melodye L. (Brian E.) Kelly - McGhee as well as a brother; Gordon Kelly of Maysville, IL and three sisters June (Ron) Crement of Schiller Park, IL. Linda Swims of Huntley IL. and Ollie (Rick) Drezek of Berea, Kentucky. He also Leaves behind three grandchildren; Alexandra Kelly of Shaumburg, IL , Joel McGhee and Hannah McGhee both of Somerset, KY.

 

Services For Mr. Kelly were private and held on Sunday, June 27, 2021.


Burial was in Somerset Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.

Anna Lois Glover, age 61, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

 

Anna was born on April 16, 1960 in Somerset, KY, to the late Charles Whitis and Nannie Myrtle Hill Whitis.  She was a patient aide at Oakwood for several years. Anna enjoyed flowers, gardening, the outdoors and painting. 

 

She is survived by her husband, Hubert Clarence “Bud” Glover, whom she married on December 5, 1986 in Somerset, KY; her children, Patricia “Trish” Abbott (and Jonathan Dick) of Somerset, Shawn Dale (and Jessica) Glover of Somerset and Billy Chad (and Nikki) Glover of Ferguson; four brothers, Bruce Whitaker of Somerset, Andy Hill of Monticello, Earl Daniels of Elizabethtown and Odell Daniels of Elizabethtown; three sisters, Janice Dooley of N.C., Susie Bedford of Vine Grove, KY and Shirley Neeley of Lancaster; eight grandchildren, Reanna (and Donald) Paul, Addyson Abbott, Hayden and Jayden Glover, William Colt Glover, Mashaylynn Glover, Peyton Glover and Keegan Glover; and one great grandchild, Leland Ray Paul.

 

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles “Buster” Whitis and Joe Whitis; one infant brother; and two sisters, Ruthie Whitis and Deborah Whitis.  

 

Visitation will be on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

 

Her funeral service will follow on Friday at 3:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. 

 

Burial will be at Acorn Cemetery.
